I wanna make" lijst staat.

Heerlijk.

A busy week coming up

Next week's gonna be a busy week. There's a wedding cake for 35 people and a small birthday cake with 50 matching cupcakes planned. All for the same day!

As I don't know how to manage it with my regular job, I decided to take some days off. Well 2 weeks actually. I still have quite some holidays left and I'm now able to go on leave, thus I took 1 week for the cakes and 1 week to go to a sunny place to recover from a busy year.

The wedding cake will be the same as the "Paris" cake, a black and white wedding cake I made before.

This time the decoration, such as the roses, has to be executed in the same red color as the wedding dress. The bride gave me a piece of fabric of her wedding gown to get the color as closely as possible.

Next will be the birthday cake with cupcakes for 50 people. This cake will be made for a young man turning thirty. There will be a small cake and 50 cupcakes that go with the cake. Still figuring out how to execute it though.

There's plenty to do, starting to make a "to do" list : check if I've got everything I need - when to make the roses and how many - when to make and assemble the wedding cake - arrange help to transport the cake to the venue and when and how to execute the cake with the matching cupcakes.

Hope I won't forget a thing. Better to get my butt off my chair and get started.

Gracia Lace

When I was asked to make a wedding cake I was excited. There was no restriction except for the color. It had to have the same color as the wedding dress: off-white. The rest was up to me. I would have chosen the color myself. For what I had in mind, it was perfect. Now I got the change to make the cake I wanted to make for a long time. A cake decorated with "lace". You can imagine my excitement.
I decided to use petal shaped pans which I think was a good choice. I filled the cake with 2 layers of vanilla BC and one layer of marmelade. Then I made and applied the decoration. All easier said than done. It took me quite some time to finish it.

The cake was given to the couple by the bride's sister. She loved the cake so much she did not leave a crumb and even scraped and ate the marzipan from the board, or so she told me.
I laughed when I heard that. She said she could taste the love I have for cake decorating. Isn't that sweet?

Post note (aug 2011):
Proud that the cake is mentioned in the blog of "The Belle Magazine Wedding Blog"
